The Collaborative Side Sessions

What’s involved in a Life Promotion and Suicide Prevention FNQ Collaborative side session?

A “side session” or a “charette” is an opportunity to come together about a particular issue linked to the work of the larger Collaborative

Each side session will take a previously prepared “pitch'“ idea from February’s  “Shark Tank-style” Collaborative event and stretch it, test it and explore it, considering what needs to be added and what needs to be done.

The pitch themes grew from previous workshops which focused on developing a Common Agenda and identifying the ‘Critical Shifts’ required to achieve change.

Five themes emerged: access, stigma and language, systems, education, and racism.

Each ‘pitch’ idea will now go through a series of deeper design sessions with a diverse range of collaborative members.

There will be five of these side sessions that explore each pitch:

  • A Reset Button for education

  • A 100-year roadmap to eliminating racism

  • A One System, One Service: System Navigator

  • Focus on Policy: a cultural shift in policy-making towards economic development and community empowerment

  • All for one and one for all: a community-based initiative to eradicate the stigma surrounding suicidal ideation

What will happen in the side sessions?

During a 90-minute workshop, designers will explore the following questions that relate to a specific pitch:

  • What is feasible?

  • What is possible?

  • What is scalable?

  • What else do we need to know?

  • Who else do we need to include?

  • How can this happen?

  • Is it viable?

Who might be involved?

Anyone interested in suicide prevention and in creating a fair and equitable community. You don’t need to have been at that particular pitch table in session 7 or have attended previous events to register.

You do need to bring a creative and open mind and be willing to think outside the box.

The Life Promotion and Suicide Prevention FNQ initiative is building a movement for change by working towards new narratives and conversations about suicide as well as creating integrated community responses.

At each Collaborative event, the aim is to provide an environment where people will learn something new, meet and connect with someone they may not have met before and leave feeling better than when they arrived!

If you are interested in being part of a movement for change and would like to contribute to the design of new approaches to life promotion and suicide prevention, email our team, follow us on social media, and register for an event.
